The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) is once again had been notified about the nitti-gritti of the lopsided nature of the appointments made which does not consider religious balance. Sequel to the earlier outcry on the FUNATO's insensitive appointment of principal officers in the Federal Institution, we are miffed at the events unfolding as it does not reflect religious balance and federal character either.
Concerned citizens are raising alarms about FUNATO (Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho). Reports show imbalance in appointments under the Vice-Chancellor:
- 10 consultants: 1 Muslim
- 6 Deans: All Deeper Life faith
We call on Professor Babayemi to earnestly review the appointment already made to reflect fairness to the the two main religions in the community with a view to balancing same in the subsequent exercise.
Professor Babayemi must be aware that MURIC is not only interested but also has eye in all what is going on in the new University. We smell rat by starting a Federal University on the pedestal of religious insensitivity and we warn about possible Christianisation agenda in a Muslim densely populated community.
As a FEDERAL university, FUNATO MUST reflect Nigeria's diversity! 😤 It's not a faith-based institution, and we won't let it be localized.
We urge Oke-Ogun stakeholders and traditional rulers to intervene and ensure:
- Federal character representation
- Faith inclusivity
- Merit-based appointments
An attempt to begin this way may go a long way in causing constant religious upheavals and the long standing peace and harmony enjoyed in the area may be gravely affected. To this end, we demand a total review of appointments of the Consultants, Deans and others to reflect perfect balance between the two religions.
Let's protect FUNATO's federal status! 💪
