MURIC OSUN COMMISERATE WITH GOV ADELEKE AND OSUN STATE MUSLIM COMMUNITY
The Osun State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) commiserate with the Executive Governor of Osun State, Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the entire Muslim Community of Osun State in general on the sudden demise of their illustrious son Professor Abdulgaffar 'Siyan Oyeweso which occured on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2025.
There is no doubt that the State's hope on the late 'Siyan had been lost and this dealt an incalculable blow to the family, Osun Muslims and the State in general. Convinced that we came from Allah and to Him shall we return, we concern everyone to pursue impactful life to enliven the legacy left by Prof Oyeweso.
Late 'Siyan came, saw and conquered in terms of his chosen career and the fact that he was a good Muslim made us to pray Allah to accept his returns. We do not in any way claim that he was perfect inspite of which his living to touch numerous lives was examplary. In Oyeweso's life is a great lesson for Muslims in public offices to be dedicated, focus and humane.
That late 'Siyan was a reputable icon in history and scholastic pursuits is not an overstatement. His amiable hand in shaping the General Studies (GNS) Department of the Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo remains unequalled. His last time Lagos impactful function was the lecture he delivered on Lagos socio-political history in the heartland of Lagos. As a historian par excellence and staunch Muslim, his contributions to LASU Muslim Community before the transfer to Osun State University (OSU) remains indelible. The same trend he followed in OSU particularly in stemming tides around academic environment and entire Muslim circle of Osun State.
We pray Almighty Allah to grant Prof. Abdulgaffar 'Siyan Oyeweso a place in Al-Jannati firdaws, and give the family, Osun State Governor and the entire Muslims of Osun State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Dr. Razaq Bolawaye Uthman, Chairman Osun State MURIC.
