138TH EDITION OF VOICE OF THE MIMBARR 28-02-1447 AH/22-08-2025 CE NOBILITY IN ADMIRABILITY; ISLAMIC TAKE

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim

Glory be to Allah (SubhanaHu Wa Ta'ala (SWT)) on the innumerable favour and abundant blessings be upon the noble Messenger Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam (SAW)) and his sincere followers till eternity. This edition would recap numerous editions in the wake of current moral decadence in the society.  Esteemed readers, you would recall the edition on widowhood and its attendant implications for humanity in Islam. Single Mother Syndrome, Muslim Women and their roles in the society and Mode of dressing and its vitality to human security. Others include Apostasy and its Islam-moral importance and Why Our Schools must not fail. In this edition, efforts shall be made to enunciate the essence of these topics and the side effects which trail their negligence.

Hence, this edition shall unhesitatingly applaud two States of the federation. These are Imo State and Katsina State Governments. Two phases of Dajjal and their tormenting effects in recent time. Trials and tribulations as charaterised life in entirety would be taken along with cogent  essentials of life. Above all, a line of priority of humanity and several ways of building resilience in human beings shall be discussed before the final submission.

Nevertheless, the current rise in immorality culminating in degenerating and downwards trends of human dignity appears a serious concern for posterity on the current parenthood. What is nobility and admirability in the first place? Nobility is addressed on the matter of being loved and loving by all on the basis of best disposition. Its second side akin appears attracting friendship of worth and likeness of essence. It is in fact sarcastically called 'Yayi' in the Yoruba novelty. What Islam advocates is the best of all behaviour in attitude, speaking, disposition, and outlook in all fronts. This is passed on to the children and numerous others around a decent Muslim. In fact, this is the great heritage a Muslim must  perpetuate.

This is what Allah (SWT) alludes to in several moral-based Ayat as adunbrated in the Glorious Qur'an and dully supported by the noble Messenger Muhammad (SAW). Allah (SWT) says: 'O ye who believe! truly, among your wives and your children are (some that are) enemies to yourselves: so beware of them! but if you forgive and overlook, and cover up (their faults), verily Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Your riches and your children may be but mere trial: whereas Allah, with Him is the highest reward (Qur'an 64:14-15)'. In the same token, the noble Messenger (SAW) was reported to have said: 'Allah (SWT) maintains, O Son of Adam, use your free time to worship Me and I will fill your heart with riches and alleviate your poverty, otherwise I will fill your life with troubles and never relieve your poverty (Tirmidhi 2644).'

Coming from the point of emphasis of the last edition on this platform particularly on the emanating menace from schools as a civilization refinery, the Government of Imo State in particular deserves accolades. This is in the areas of placing ban on celebrated party-throwing on the Nursery, KG, Primary and Secondary schools graduations. In addition to this, an implementable policy was formulated against constant and periodic change in educational and instructional books which does not only cause untold hardship on parents but also bothers on inconsistency in the focus of education. Other States should borrow leave from this great feat. A sister State that deserves thumb-up in this direction is Katsina State on her efforts to revitalize religious education in school. Nothing should hinder other States of the federation from emulating adorable policies such as this in view of the current moral decadence emanating from schools.

Granted that the state of economy appears unfriendly, it would not be an indication that principal segments of the society such as parents, schools and various authorities should abdicate their roles on mentoring the incoming generation to admiration. Failure to achieve in this respect renders this crops of adults non-functional. To this end, three principal things stand important as points of celebration. These include striving for applied knowledge as against walloping in sheer ignorance. Lack of informative knowledge and is a premise to disease of various categories on the top of which is the disease of mind (paranoid). This gives ways to various ills in the society as a result of unbalanced focus. The last principal element of survival is striving against penury. Poverty as a potential harbinger of disease and  ignorance drives to most of ill-manners in human circle if it remains unchecked.

The fact that life is all about trials is the bone of contention of Muslim faith. The Yoruba adage saying: 'Ogun nii so'ni di alagbara; iforo mo Oloun nii so'ni di alaseyori' interpreted thus 'Within trials, trouble and prayer success resides.' However, lines of priority must be drawn for possible turning trials to success. Being resilient in the face of trials is important. Respect for and arming oneself with dignity of labour is an important aspect of life which remains elusive of the current crop of children. Instead, the life of money and easiness is the order of the day. Patience is the root of all achievements and it should be at the frontline of success. It is in the same token that perseverance gives birth to courage as a potential instrument leading to achievement. Forbearance and visionary focus play vitality to ultimate celebration.

Mention must be made that in recent days, the social media became awash with secondary school girls given to inserting contraceptive device on the body...! A girl was caught with dripping blood in her upper alm. On enquiry, she confessed to the offense and worse-still that nothing less than forty colleagues of hers are also guilty of the same ill-character. What purpose does contraceptive serve to teenagers in secondary school that promiscuity and sheer fornication? This goes in tandem with yet another serious ill creeping into the society which is 'Signing out syndrome'. Final year students indulge in cultic and despondent  gutter habit of inscribing with coloured pen on the white garment of colleagues immediately after the final paper. The purpose of this according to the teenagers arise in the cause of joy and for possible remembrance of the day.

The odd in the dot appears particularly when one of the girls loosened her button to allow one male colleague to write on her naked breast. In another instance, some went to an extent of using razor to cut this signing out attire which eventually led to serious injury on the victim. The same thing goes for pouring water on a birthday celebrant on the actual birth date remembrance. Many opportunities accrued in future in terms of employment or prospective life partner may be denied on the account of such loose character.

Above all, addressing most of the ill-manners could be done through the following theories as emanated from both Islamic theorists Sayyid Qutb and Abul A'ala Maodudi. They include: I. Tarbiyyatu Imaniyyah (Proper imbue of faith-based training in children or planting in them safe doctrines and faith, and teaching them rudiments of faith, Islam and conviction about hidden religious concepts. II. Tarbiyyatu Khulqiyyah (Moral teachings) such as Greeting, Eating, Humility as enunciated in the episode of Prophet Luqman mentioned in Qur'an 31:13. III. Tarbiyyatu Jismiyyah - manner of Dressing, Cleaning and mode of keeping healthy. IV. Tarbiyyat 'Aqliyyah - safe thoughts as guide to personality. To this end, an Arab adage posits: 'Talk and you shall be identified; human being is actually recognized by what emanates from his tongue'. This absorbs a trained Muslim from careless talk and immoral utterances. V. Tarbiyyatu Nafsiyyah- mind to be soft against being brainwashed with delving into gutter cultures. VI. Tarbiyyatu Ijtima'iyyah - cohabitation in good manner. In fact Allah's declaration that 'Indeed your ways are multifa- eted.' This defines the lots of unbecoming attitudes emanating in the current period. Summarily, it is hoped that with Islamic training being entrenched in the society, most of the ill-manners would abate and normalcy would suffice. Till we meet again in another edition, thank you and remain blessed.
